Hi all
i picked this weight up at the weekend, i believe its a pretty standard P7 Strathearn weight.
I was hoping somebody could confirm an age
the closest example ive found is on Richard More's site and he gives the dates 1965 - 1980, is there anyway i could narrow this down at all?

The base has VERY heavy wear, although this is no real gage of age, i would imagine mine to be somewhere nearer to 1965 ?
The weight is 7.5cms in diameter.

It's a nice, well set example.
But a better dating than 1965-80 is unlikely to be achieved. Although the base shows a lot of "wear", it seems to have more than would be expected from something less than 50 years old. It is possible that the "wear" was mostly the way it was originally finished.
Apart from the "experimental" weights of the final couple of years of Strathearn's paperweight making, I know of no way to determine a closer dating for their regular daily production weights.

many thanks KevH, It was a bit of a long shot on narrowing the age down.
all the best
