This plate is at an antique mall locally and I find it to be quite interesting. The picture of it is bad and I apologize.... it was the best I could do with my phone.
It is approx 12 inches in diameter. The top layer is a reddish orange in color. There is a cutback pattern to a layer in kind of a light orange/yellow. The edges of the cutback are "soft" and look as though it may have been heated after the cutback was done. The back of the plate is black, and I could not see if it had a pontil or not. Does anyone recognize this work? Maker? Age?
TIA

Here's a shot in the dark. The scripty cuts look almost arabic and the 'w' shaped pieces on either side look a bit like the Arabic lettering for Allah.

Max, it's nice to see you here more frequently again! :-*
I go with Max - looks Arabic to me also in every respect :)

I had not even considered that.... They have it listed as Czech or French.....
and I agree completely with Sue... nice to see you a little more frequently Max.....

Craig, I do not read or understand Arabic, but the small tulip in the centre points to Turkey JMHO :-\
