Title: Any GIN BOTTLES from Africa out there??
Post by: A_Mere_Mortal on May 05, 2010, 03:47:35 AM
Hi,

I am a new member and found this web site through Google when I was researching gin bottles found in Africa, especially from Nigeria and other Dutch colonies.

I read that one member on here ( HEIDIMIN ) has relation that has a large number that were dived in Nigeria and would be interested in knowing what turned up or what other on the Board have on their shelves.

I have collected OLD bottles for many years and am also happy to share my knowledge on any early bottle you may have.

Cheers

Welcome to the GMB - it is always good to have someone on board with specific bottle knowledge.

The Jenever (you may call it Gin but to us that is not the same) bottles found in Africa and in the Caribbean are well known and described. They were made by a great number of small glass factories in Schiedam - each distiller made his own bottles.

You will probably find this site very useful:

... even if it is in Dutch.
