Title: Blue Vase signed "A Hay"? ID = Andrew Hay, LA Studios
Post by: heartofsklo on May 05, 2010, 03:43:42 PM
The vase is blue and has a rough un-ground pontil, it is signed as in photo 2 with what looks like "A Hay".

Hi,

Definitely not whitefriars, if it was going to WF it would have a ground concave pontil mark.  Furthermore, being signed would more than likely make me think that it was more of a studio piece.

Have you tried search under the signed name to see what turns up..?

There is a contemporary glass blower called Andrew Hay. I have attached a link below, although the page doesnt show much of his work, so hard to establish if your piece was made by him.

I would suspect that there's more than one A Hay around, you could try emailing them as starting point.

Hope this helps,

Thanks GBarfoot, I have indeed emailed then for guidance on the piece. There is/was another piece with the same signature on Ebay but the seller states that they know nothing regarding the maker.

This is by Andrew Hay of LA Studios.

I heard today that he may now be working for John Ditchfield http://www.glasform.com/ so that would be a good place to follow up.

I have written an email to the Ditchfield website to enquire about Andrew Hay.

Deffinately by him as you say and interesting to see the similairty between my vase and the 2nd image in gallery one here - http://www.lastudioglass.co.uk/index.htm
The website states the following -  "This page is being updated 20/03/03" which is quite a while ago now, being nosey I wonder what happened to him since then to now?

It's Andrews work, I'm his brother & stumbled across this post by accident.
He does do some work & teaching at the Ditchfield Studio, I was up there myself earlier this year at the studio.
He's contactable.

Welcome yyzman and thanks for updating this topic. It's good to know folks were on the right track and that your brother is still working with glass.
