Title: Any advice on glass repolisher
Post by: surfersam on May 06, 2010, 06:11:37 PM
I have a holmegaard vase, Signed by "per lutken"
It has a horrendous water mark half way down which I can not shift. We have tied different cleaning methods ie: White vinegar and filling with warm and a couple of denture cleaner and nothing shifts it.

So is the best thing to re polish or try a different way?

Water marks are caused by acidic water pitting the surface of the glass, leaving that white looking stain. As the surface of the glass is damaged there are two ways to procede:

1. Take it to a professional glass restorer.
2. Fix it yourself by polishing the glass smooth again using cerium powder, T cut or Brasso. Search this board for more information, here's one thread: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,30700.0.html
