Hi there, i was wondering if anyone could help me identify these paperweights i bought a while back. I purchased them at a flea market and now sadly have to part with them.
-
Hi,
I think that the first one is a modern Chinese weight.
I am baffled by the second (it says Scottish to me but I have never seen anything quite like it before), so better let other collectors identify that one.
The third one is a Caithness glass weight second quality.

Is the second one a Perthshire, maybe?

Hi Sophie, and thanks for your reply. The second one is very strange, i will show you a pic of the base. The third one i thought was Caithness but needed some reassurance. and i didnt understand the marking. But i take it thats what tells you its second quality.

Maybe lol. Ive never came across another like it.

The shape reminded me of this Perthshire....

Very similar, ive never saw another like this until now. Does it have a clear spot on the bottom showing the inside? Its like the colour is a coating on the inside, and when you look through the base you can see inside through a small hole in the coating.
-
Yup,think that's a Perthshire......
-
Cheers very much Keith. I think that sorts that one out. Do you know the values of these paperweights?
-
Not something I go into,Perthshire like Caithness can range from £10-£15 to hundreds, just grab what bargains I can,
-
No probs, thanks again for your help Keith.

more likely to be a caithness with the shape as the points are more rounded than a perthshire one, as caithness did a mould weight something to do with a flower, and the clear spot is on most ...if not all moulded weights of this sort

I guess you are talking of "Florette", Ray, first issued in 1985.
Would be useful to have a view straight from above, to compare with this image (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?topic=23435.0), and a profile view.
