This little thick walled bowl was being used by our native Kaka as a feeding bowl, so after the last bowl thought I'd better check to see if its another treasure!
It may not be Murano, but someone out there may know.

I don't know about the bowl, but that is one magnificent bird. He looks like he could do some real damage if upset.
-
LOL, :24: they are very gentle, but if no peanuts have been known to throw the bowl on the ground! One thing about these bowls they're solid, and too heavy for them to pick up!
-
Lovely bird. The bowl looks Murano to me though.
-
Yes, I do agree. The bowl appears to be Murano in origin. Awwww, what a cute fellow (talking about the bird, of course.)

I just noticed the bird (Kaka?) looks bullicante, too.
-
[off topic!] What sort of bird IS that? :o
-
Sandy:
It looks like a regular bullicante bowl from the side (i.e. blown in a nail mould), but from the top there looks like there are other bubbles as well. Is that right? Is the top level? Also, is that gold foil on the bottom? Here's a fairly similar AVeM bowl for comparison.

Thanks David, yes does look like your bowl, have taken a photo by flash so the gold shows. The top is'nt perfectly level, you can feel some of the bubbles.

Looks like I might have to find another chucky bowl to feed the big budgies!
Max, Kaka, are 1 of our native parrots, very beautiful red under the wings, and quite rare anywhere else in New Zealand.

Thought it was dark for a kea. There was one kaka up on Signal Hill behind Ravensbourne in Dunedin apparently when we lived there. Never saw it though.
