Hello again
We have this lovely clear cased fish. Large clear eyes with open mouth. The base has a ground out polished piece what confused us was why as the fish doesnt actually sit on this area does that indicate the maker maybe. 2 questions if I may - 1. Is it an ashtray or for sugar etc?
2. Who is the maker please? it came from a dutch lady if that has any influence.

The ground out piece is where the pontil rod was attached so his his fins and tail could be added. His body was blown in a mould though. I don't think he's cased as he looks all one colour. He could be for salt.

Thanks Christine, its a bit obvious really about the pontil. Am I using the wrong terminology again re the casing I wouldn't put it past myself. The fish is all clear, however, in the pic I think the light has hit it correctly in that you can see the shape of the inner piece, the inner base is approx 2cm away from the start of the tail. The tail is part of the body and I can see the mould line.

That's just the thickness of the glass and probably means I was wrong about mould blown, he was pressed.
