I gather it's ok to post pics other than for ID. I'm hoping to balance the books with Paul 'darn sarth'. So here is a display of some of the glass I've garnered up here in Cumbria over the last 9 months. As you can see I tend to colour coordinate, rather than group in style/artist/manufacturer etc. Besides as I'm only just learning who's who and what's what it would be impossible. I do recognise quite a lot of the obvious stuff. Take the big WF piece, I pounced on this and nearly knocked the stall over! I know there's a Matfia(?) piece because it has its lable & sig and two little Strathern or Monart baskets, neither with fractures on the handles....it's a weakness I've now gathered. The amethyst one with silver inclusions on the window ledge is a current favourite.
Please feel free to offer tentative ID or prompts to this numb skull :pb: who's trying to learn a lot in her spare time!!!

Hi Steph, the Matfia piece is probably Mtarfa, ran by Paul Said, brother to Joseph who runs Mdina glass on Malta. I can spot quite a few that I recognise but as I tend to stick to what I know - Maltese glass and Isle of Wight - I'll not show myself up by id'ing anything that I'm not certain of.

The baskets are Vasart,see pic',next to those is a Per Lutken 'heart ' vase,smokey glass,as for the blue knobbly...I've a green one!

I see a Whitefriars Elephants Foot vase and a large knobbly. How tall is the knobbly? Looks a big 'un!

ah ha - Vasart eh? A quick bit of research shows me the Scottish ancestry of this ancient family is mixed up with the others..(Mon & Stra). I feel a bit like Eddy the Eagle ..on a steep learning curve.... I'm getting to grips with some of the Scandinavian stuff as I treated myself to the Fire & sea and Smoke and Ice books. I need to get more books tho'. At present I'm building a resource of all the links from kind GMB members on my laptop which is very helpful. Somewhere I saw a plug for Marcus Newhalls book which is on my list, but forgot to take note...but that will be my next buy.
Last year at the Cambridge G F., The kind man on a WF stall gave me a catalogue ...Wilson of Whitefriars. which is produced by The Country Seat. Huntercombe Manor Barn, Nr. Henley on Thames. With this and the WF book and the WF site I'm beginning to get to grips with WF..... it's all the other stuff that's the problem.
It's becoming obvious to me that there is no substitute for touchy feely.....where glass is concerned, so I'm off to an antiques fair tomorrow in the hope that there's a good stall full of 20c glass for me to identify from 50 paces!!!! Just hope I don't see something I couldn't live without...not being a dealer has it's down side.... no excuse to indulge myself.... Happy car booting everyone :thup:

The purple ashtray on your windowsill looks like Rosice Glassworks by Rudolf Jurnikl. I have a yellow one somewhere in my garage. And I only know about it thanks to Mark Hill's book Hi Sklo Lo Sklo which has been a lovely place for me to start with postwar Czech glass.
Nice collection by the way. Good hunting at your car boots.

Hi Iain - this is only the tip of the ice-berg I'm afraid, but glad you like it. Yes. Marks book is brilliant, that was my first book buy on glass. Iv'e seen a few of these Rudolf Jurnikl dishes, but never one in yellow! night night :sleep:

Suzy, Thanks for email.... I think your right, I've had a look on line... they do look like Wedgewood candle holders, & I bought them as a pair for £3 so that was a good buy. :hiclp: cheers steph

A chartreuse bowl by Rudolf Jurnikl, Rosice Glassworks is on ebay (310222347082). There are quite a few named but this one's not attributed.
