Title: Chance Glen Regal teardrop plate
Post by: Anne on May 22, 2010, 07:56:29 PM
I don't see many teardrop shaped plates up here, and have never seen Glen Regal before except in David's book...

A scarce pattern, coupled with a more unusual shape, and probably seen more often north of the border. I can confirm that the shape was referred to as 'pear' in the catalogues, rather than teardrop, but either is descriptive enough.

I can confirm you don't see it that often north of the border either. :)

Yes, they are pretty scarce! However, the pattern was developed to meet a suggestion by Chance's Scottish agent, H G Black & Sons and was probably sold pretty much exclusively in Scotland.

Thanks David and Sue for your thoughts, it's the first one of this pattern I've found and we're not that far from Scotland!
