Hi All, I bought this Borske 'nemo' ball vase last week. It came on a three legged brass coloured stand. My question really is , were these vases ever sold with stands or have the two pieces just been added together by someone? I prefer it on its own but won't split them if they are meant to be together. I've never seen one on a stand before. Thanks cheryl.

I would think there is a considerable time difference between the two items - even if nothing really surprises me anymore :pb:

I have to say I agree with Ivo. That stand is just not 1960s/70s and probably made for something less round.

Thanks you for your replies, I'm really quite glad they don't belong together. The sellers mother had them together for a good number of years. I thought the stand was in danger of scraping some of the colour off the circles. It looks much better without the stand. Anyone want an ugly stand? ;D Cheryl

I dunno. They seem to fit together ok-ish, so if you quite like them together leave them to it! I don't think the stand is that ugly...in fact...I think I prefer the stand to the glass! :24: :24: ;)

Max, I don't agree... the vase is perfect without that icky stand! But then again, to each his own ;D

I am almost sure that it has not been planed to have this two pieces together. Nice trick!

Designer Max Kannegieser

This coloured optic decorated glass was prpobably very popular on begining of 60ties, see other varieties from my collection.
I have tried to find more about designer Max Kannegiesser, I have got only very limited infos from Mr. Wünsch. Kannegiesser was Bohemian-German, studied in Dresden, during war he was an officer in German army. He worked in Borske sklo in 50ties, on beginning of 60ties he was allowed to leave Czechoslovakia for Germany. He found his new home in Bavaria in glass town Zwiessel.
He has a record in communistic secret police files (5105) STB as secret co-operator with nick name "Harry". Also Mr. Wünsch has mentioned that Kannegiesser was "sent" to Germany with his spy duties. Possibly somebody from our German friends would be able to find more about this leading designer of fifties somewhere at German sites or directly in Zwiessel.

Wow , what an interesting story and life he led. I now have six different shapes and sizes of vase in this range and my husband keeps buying the bells!!! I think he bought bell number five this week. ::) Some of the coloured discs vary in shade but they are all very attactive. And I think the stand on the last one will be going on the next car boot we have. Cheryl

I love the lampshade version in Jindrich's pictures.
