Title: London Glassblowers

Does anyone know if there are records of glassblowers in the EastEnd of London around 1880 onwards.  Im trying to trace an ancestor and all I have is his name.

Hi and welcome to the board. 

A working glassblower would be shown as such on the census taken every 10 years. The 1881 would be a good one to start with, especially as you can search it online for free: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp Other censuses between 1841-1911 are available at www.ancestry.co.uk and www.findmypast.co.uk and other similar genealogy portals.

There is also a message board about glass & crystal makers which might be able to help you locate your ancestor: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.occupations.glasscrystal/mb.ashx (Rootsweb is part of the Ancestry family.)

Hope this gets you started, but please do also add your ancestor's name and any other info you find here as some members have access to other records so may be able to add info if they know who to look for.

Hmm, that jelly glass on his front page is by Percival & Vickers!
