Title: isle of wight ?????

hi bought these in a car boot lady said they were isle of wight any ideas

Hi.  The green swirl looks like it might have an IoW mark on the base (a stylised flame). If you Google 'IoW impressed flame mark' you should be able to locate examples.  Without a mark, these swirl weights are hard to attribute, because so many small studios have churned them out, as well as better known ones. But I don't think that being able to attribute any of them to IoW necessarily makes them more valuable - they are indeed car boot material IMHO!

thanks, i didnt pay much for them just trying to increase my knowlage of glass ect, this site is great for that and all help is greatly appreciated thanks again

Hi

As there's more than one glassmaker on the Isle of Wight it's possible that they came from the island but they don't strike me as Isle of Wight Studio Glass, none of the bases look to have the impressed flame mark of IoWSG but as that was phased out at the end of the 80's there are lots of Pwts out there without it - without a label it gets more difficult.  The green and pink swirled ones look more Alum Bay to me.  Just a guess though.
