Hi,
I got this lovely Royal Krona beetle with a "Royal Krona Sweden" label, and another label with "Form Lisa Larsson" on it. I know from this post: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,3258.0.html that Royal Krona functioned from 1974 to 1977, so I do know when (more or less) my beetle was made.
Now for my question... Right above the labels, etched into the glass is 'Nike 80'. Can someone tell me what this refers to? I've tried googling it, but all I get are results from the sporting goods company.
Thank you!

This Arkipelago candlestick (http://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/ScandinavianGlass#5452595664369561634) has UPM and a Griffin like creature etched on the base.
I suspect your beetle and my candlestick were etched to order, possibly by a company that gave them as gifts to their staff or customers. I have to admit to never investigating who UPM might be or were.

Thank you John and Christine!
I wonder why Nike would chose to give a beetle as a gift? Very peculiar... And I wonder what the '-80' stands for? I don't think it could be a date as the beetles were only made in the mid-70s. :-\ ???
