This vase has like a glass sugar rough coating if that makes sence!! and a pontill mark to the base any ideas to its origin ?? thankyou .
-
How tall is it? The shape is very much like a late 1950s Carlo Moretti vase or decanter.
-
What sort of pontil mark? Looks like a piece pseudo scavo by Lafiore or similar
-
I know these but they're not even Lafiore. I think they are from one of the Baltic states, from China or from India.
-
Certainly this rough/granular/fine sandpaper effect is seen commonly on very recent pieces from China - often quite typically with this body colour as well. Have you tried looking for some of the standard indications of age i.e. base, side etc.?

Hi the vase is just over twelve inches high it has five pontil marks to the base ,the base rim shows a little wear and the sugared coating is worn on the stem part and sides but i cant tell if its wear or just made like that ,also im not sure how these vases are made but it looks like its coloured from the outside like a thick enamalled coating then "sugared " .. many thanks
-
It can't possibly have five pontil marks; one mark with five bits to it possibly!! It was only ever attached to one pontil rod = one mark. Pic please

I have a pink jug which I posted quite a while ago for ID, which has the same sugared effect. I think it was said it was made to look like fake old Roman glass which had been buried for years and then dug up!!!! It was made and sold for the tourists. Its in the roof somewhere ;D I don't know if this is the same though. Cheryl
