Hello everyone. I have been trying unsuccessfully to find out more about a large crystal bowl I bought at an estate auction. This bowl is shaped like a rose bowl (total round) -- it is approx. 10" in dia. 8 1/2" high and has a circum. of 41" it weighs in at a hefty 10 lbs. 6 oz. The bowl has a cursive signature about 1/4" from the rim, which I can't read. A couple glassies on the e-bay chat site have pretty much confirmed that it is not ABP but European. The patterns are pinwheel, buckle, diamonds and fans -- since the cuttings are pretty much all over the bowl, believe it is not very new. Can anyone please help me??
Thanks
Judi

Hello Judi & Welcome
What do you think the signature says ? I can only make out a couple of letters from your photo.
It certainly looks a very special piece and Czech / Bohemia would be the obvious European location but I would be wary of narrowing your search at this stage.
We have experts in older English glass but for Czech glass of this age, maybe KevH will have some ideas but you could try writing to Orville Burgh who is a member here but not a frequent visitor. Reach him via www.rubyglass.com.

Paridise -- Believe it or not, it looks to me like "Jason" -- but, since that is my son's name, I may be imagining!! Thanks for the tips, I will try to write to the expert -- does he do free advise???

Nothing is for free Judi :)
The price here is reciprocation of your knowledge and advice to others.
If you refer him back to this thread,( link: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,3428.0.html ) I'm sure he will give some of his knowledge freely but if you want a full appraisal with valuations that's a different matter. Ask him !
