The notched/toothed ring on the foot is similar to a definite Wfrs. bowl in recent months, so I'm hoping this is the same, and the 'wave pattern' is very much like the pieces shown in Leslie Jackson's book. Diameter is 12.5/8 inches across the top, and it rings with that intense sharp metalic sound that goes on forever. There is wear on the base, although perhaps not as much as I might have expected, and the pontil mark has been ground and polished well. Would appreciate an experts opinion please, and thanks for looking.

I'd say this is spiral ribbed rather than wave ribbed.
Could it be this one?

Doesn't look exactly the same as yours, but is certainly similar. Perhaps John Hobbs has seen one and could comment. I haven't seen one in the flesh so to speak, so not sure if the crimped foot rim finish was used on the Whitefriars bowl in the catalogue picture above.
-
thanks for looking, and on reflection think you are right re the 'spiral' description. Certainly looking at a side profile of the bowl shape, it doesn't really look the same as pattern 7025 in the wfrs. link - less wildly flared perhaps.
-
Looks right to me Paul, very much like a Sea Green one with a 'rigaree' foot I sold, will see if I can find a photo.

Anything like this? a few versions made with the pattern no. 8266
this one spiral ribbed with a rigaree foot
http://www.whitefriars.com/isit_contents.php?ID=6821
Also 2 coloured threaded version
-
I think it's definitely the 8266. I have one in Ruby with a similar 'rigaree' foot.
-
Mmmm? confused? Doesn't the 8266 in the catalogue look like a threaded version of the same shaped bowl? Whereas the unthreaded version is a different catalogue number? (as per my post above)
-
sincere thanks to everyone - this evening I will in fact post a picture showing clearly the side profile, since the 'outline shape' seems quite important. Paul S.
-
As I understood it Emmi the 8266 shape was used for threaded, cloudy or plain. Isn't the 7025 a shallower bowl? As Paul says, a profile pic would help us sort out this question. The outline does seem to be the main difference.

Come on now Ladies...................... we are not paying attention here.
The 8266 bowl came in 2 sizes, this is the small so the pattern number would be 8583.
However looking at Paul's image I think the shape is not this pattern but maybe I am wrong.
Regards, Patrick. :) :) :)

LAYDEES indeed how very dare you

thanks Patrick - and as promised here are a few further images, which hopefully will settle the matter, and thanks again to everyone. :) The spiral can be seen best at about 2 o'clock in the overhead view. Features in clear glass are sometimes difficult to capture, but hope these are helpful, and apologies for the scribbling on the card.
