Title: Florentine Cameo Vase
Post by: Judith E. Glomb on December 02, 2005, 11:34:25 AM
Good morning glassies.  Someone on the ebay chat board just identified a vase I have as "Florentine Cameo".  Can't seem to find a good description (i.e., age, est. value) in any of my references.  Does anyone out there know about this glass.  (Picture attached).

Thanks a bunch  :D

Judi

Hi Judith,
Welcome.
English? Thomas Webb cameo vase?
I am sure the experts will come up with something.
Sorry not much help really.

It could be "Florentine Art Cameo" an imitation cameo glass put out by Silber and Fleming in the late 1800's. I have an unmarked tumbler in the same color with the thin white lines at the top and bottom. There is some speculation in the latest Phoenix Glass book by Marple that it might actually have been made by Phoenix.

Or it could be real cameo glass - it's hard to tell from a photo.
