Title: CP Stamp
Post by: tengel61 on June 19, 2010, 01:29:27 AM
This is probably a silly question but I have a paperweight stamped with CP on the bottom of it, does this stand for crystal paperweight? It's in block letter.

Hey, Tengel61.  Would you be able to post a photo of your weight and its marking?  Usually, marks are indicative of the maker.

Lily :)

Nice photo, Tengel61, but, I am sorry to say I don't have any ideas as to what CP might mean except that I doubt it stands for 'Crystal Paperweight'.  Maybe someone else will be able to help you.

Whichever way I look at the base photo, I see "H P" not "C P". But neither mean much to me.

Could you please try another photo of the base after a) dusting it with talcum powder and b) gently wiping off the upper surface, which should then leave the actual mark clearly seen.

And also, a larger photo could help - say, 500 pixels wide (as long as the Kb size is within the 125 limit).

Here's a picture 400 mp. Hope it's clear enough.

I would read that as CHP.

Thanks Sach. I never thought of using all three letters.

That's really interesting!  I think, however, the 'H' is not really part of the CP.  Rather, it is just the placement/shape/design of the CP that gives the impression (and a very good one) of an 'H'.  (If that doesn't make any sense to you, I'm having a hard time with it myself!)  CP or CHP, I'm still stumped!
