Has anyone ever come across a vase such as this, with this type cased base? The vase measures 10" inches tall. I'm pretty sure it is fairly old, as there are quite a few surface scratches on the base. Any information is truly appreciated. Thank you.

Would this be what is called a "chimney" vase?

Not sure if this helps, but I had a similar tapered vase a few years ago which l was led to believe was Scandinavian. This may or may not narrow it down a little  ;)

Thank you. I thought perhaps it was German. I'll see what I can find out with your lead.

I am throwing this out there again in hopes that someone may have come across these types of vases before. I found another one today, but in a cobalt blue, cylinder shape. I will post a photo of it soon. I just wanted to pull this out of my archive of posts.

It's shocking that so many people with such experience and one one member has ever come across one of these before ???
Makes you wonder....

Makes you wonder what?

Not much help, but I have seen a few of these here at the fleamarkets (usually they have some flowers engraved).
My guess would be rather German than Scandi, but no idea of the maker...
