Title: Help requested re identification of millefiori paperweight
Post by: mbdouglas on June 20, 2010, 10:00:33 PM
Can anyone identify this paperweight. I was thinking Strathearn, but not sure. It is 2.5" across. The ground is green, with green, blue and creamy white canes.

Hello Margaret,

I do believe you are correct in thinking your nice weight is Strathearn.  Others will be able to elaborate.  Richard More's site is a treasure chest of Strathearn information with wonderful photos.  Just Google Richard More.

Lily :)

For confirmation ... Strathearn it is. It's one of the regular daily production weights made throughout the years 1964 to 1980 (this info is also stated in Richard More's web pages). A typical feature of many of these Strathearn spoke pattern weights is that the filigree spokes are quite "chunky looking" when compared to, say, Perthshire Paperweights and even the earlier Vasart Ltd versions.
