Title: Early Caithness, but which design?
Post by: Lustrousstone on June 24, 2010, 06:45:21 AM
Nice paperweight with a label  ;D but I can't identify the design from Scotland's Glass. Anyone know what it is please? 3 in diameter, 2.5 in tall

Wuff, do you want the pictures?

Having a look through my Charlton for you Christine, but only one I can see with that kind of central column in the early weights is Sentinel, but that should have 4 distinct large bubbles to the edge, and one on top of the column.

Do you think the bubble could have fallen off?

Still looking ...

It's similar, but this has definitely got a blue and white starfishy bit at the bottom of the column. Sentinel doesn't seem to, apart from the top bubble. Thanks for looking x

I agree - the four large bubbles are rather low for a Moonflower - but their size seems to vary a lot. Right now there is a marked Moonflower on
http://cgi.ebay.ch/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320550642048
which also exhibits rather low bubbles. So my conclusion would be - this is a Moonflower Blue.

And - yes - thank you: I have copied your images  :kissy:

Thanks Wuff, my bubbles are definitely smaller and more oval than teardrop though.
