Hi!
These things are out of my comfort zone. Can anyone help me with this dish?
The bowl and the foot are made of clear glass with blue speckles. There´s gold applied
to the lozenge-structured surface. The rim of the bowl is folded under.
Does the shape of the swan point to a certain maker?
My gut feeling says, it´s rather new (post WWII), but I may be completely wrong about
that.
Forgot - there´s a snapped off pontil mark at the bottom (none inside the bowl).
It´s ca 18cm tall and 17cm wide.

I´ve had a look at Anita´s site, but the swan looks a bit different to this one. But - it looks
very, very similar to another item I´ve got. I´ll post it later.
Of course I meant to write swan-stemmed in the title. Hopefully ´swan-footed´ doesn´t
sound too stupid.

These dishes are always tough. Many people make the traditional pieces and the ones that are made in Murano all look very similar to me. My guesses for this piece would be AVeM, who often did folded rims, or a more recent piece (1980s and later). Alex may have some good ideas who the maker might be if he checks in.

A possibility you might want to research is Eugenio Ferro. The eye of you swan reminds me of the eye I had on a turtle I believe was by Ferro & Lazzarini. It's a bit of a stretch to try to attribute based on an eye, but may lead somewhere. Eugenio makes swan stem pieces. I've not seen one like yours, but...

Hi! I'm new to this, and am embarrased to say, a computer dumb-dumb and don't know how to post a photo, but your Swan-footed dish( lavender looking is absolutely AVEM, I have the IDENTICAL one in red with the label that's about the size of a dime, that actually says AVEM on it, so it's an earlier piece-1950's. SVAZZO helped me with mine, and even though that early AVEM label is'nt shown, or at least not clearly in the labels, it's AVEM!

So glad you posted, ginogrammy. AVeM was my first thought for the dish and your piece verifies it. I think we can comfortably give this one a positive ID of AVeM. :thup:
