Title: Perfume bottle - is it Caithness?

Hi - I just received this , which I purchased ages ago but was mailed seamail to me, so only just arrived. I bought it as Caithness, but now I have it I don't think it is.

The ball top of the stopper is coloured - which I have never seen on a Caithness one before.
I have searched Scotlands Glass and can't find this particular shape in the Caithness pics, and it just doesn't feel like Caithness.
The rim is finished differently to my other ones,
and the bottom half where it is speckled is not smooth - ie I can feel where the colour has been applied rather than the colour being under the clear glass.
The stopper and neck are not ground, but are quite nicely finished with a bevelled edge to the end of the stopper./li]

it stands 5" or 12.5 cm high, and 2 3/4'' or 7cm at widest point of belly.
Would appreciate any opinions as to whether it is a Caithness oddity, or if not - who made it?

I don't know to be honest, but Caithness DID do surface decorated stuff.
The bottle shape looks sort of right, but like you, I've not seen a stoppered one. I can't actually make out what sort of enamel stuff it's got on the surface - is it slightly flowery cane-like bits - or just splodges of enamel?

until you asked I thought they were just splodges, but on closer inspection all the splodges have a distinct centre - so could be canes. I have tried to take some more close up photos. I have compared it closely to my other caithness "splodgy" pieces and they are quite different.

Caithness did do an awful lot of different things, some of which can be very surprising, I don't know about this piece at all though. The semi-flowery bits of enamel are not something I've seen in Caithness before, but the jury's out as far as I'm concerned.
I would suspect not Caithness, but wouldn't be dreadfully surprised if it was found to be right after all. I'm no expert on Caithness - I just see a lot of it around.

Mtarfa is, to my knowledge, finished off with heat polishing of rims - this is both polished and bevelled. That's a bit more in line with caithness.

Where did it come from? Perhaps that might be a good starting point for innvestigation?

Thanks again - I bought it from England on Ebay but  as it was mailed sea mail the listing has dropped off now and I can't remember which part of England it was sold from. (It was when air flights were suspended because of the volcanic dust).
