Title: Cranberry Glass Decanter "C. Wellman" Mystery
Post by: horochar on July 11, 2010, 02:15:08 PM
This piece APPEARS to be a vintage mold blown factory piece with sommerso stopper, and yet it has an incised signature on bottom "C. Wellman."  Diligent internet search has yielded examples with this signature in different forms, all appear to be factory pieces.  I'm thinking that the former OWNER signed?  To me this is not a studio glass piece.  Can anyone tell me who made this (if not "C. Wellman") and when?
Thanks,
Charles.

Hi sorry I can't help much but your signature piccy isn't blowing up very well.  Could you increase it a little if possible please?  perhaps they were a distributor at some time and the vases were marked for them?

it seems unlikely to me that anyone other than the manufacturer would add this maker's name to the piece....it is very lovely but not of the type anyone would fake. i would work the wellman angle.
