Today i came across a handkerchief vase had it on good authority that it came from a lady who used to work for chance. The vase its self is made from white glass and printed on the outside completely yellow leaving a band of white around the edge approx 3/8". I did not have a tape measure but i would say it was either the 6" version or 5". I have only ever seen plain glass ones printed with patterns and never just a single block colour. Was this a production model, experimental, or even a frigger. I might be able to get a photo if it is still available tomorrow. To be honest i usually collect pressed glass and bought another item instead your expertise would be appreciated please. Thank you Markl

Sounds like the milk and flashed 'hanky' vases of the late 50's to mid 60's,Davids book page 101,
Keith.
-
So what you are saying Keith is that they are made of milk glass then printed over with pattern or colour the same as the clear glass ones. Are these as common as the clear ones its the first i have seen. thanks for the info so far, yours Mark
-
They're pretty scarce, definitely not common
-
As Christine said,I've never seen one either,
Keith.
-
Hi - I used to collect these years ago and if it is in white glass rather than clear they are harder to find. I have only ever seen a few but not one with solid decoration you mentioned.
Good find
-
Mark, could you add photos of it please?
-
If its still in shop tomorrow will do, the owner said i could photograph it might even buy it know. Trouble is not really up to prices on this type of item so don't want to get ripped of lol
-
If you don't buy it let me know where the shop is,I might take a trip over there I'm not that far away  ;D
-
Reply of David, The milk handkerchief vase was either 5½in or 7in (both approximate) and can be dated to c.1955-58. yellow is the least common colour and 5½in is the least common size. Other colours are red and black

Showing our age now Keith, skinhead myself at the time lol still play Noddy loud Sunday mornings being a Walsall lad. Any way you are not far away. There is also a little shop in George street Walsall town center worth a look, by the new Asda. Wednesdays Walsall market is collectables and antiques. And don't forget the leather museum Littleton street. Plus the monstrosity that is the new art gallery. Might be worth a ride over on a Wednesday for a day out in sunny Walsall all the best and good luck in your collecting Mark

Fabby find, thanks for showing, I've not seen one before!
-
Erm, wasn't Dave Hill as bald as a badger and that "hair" was actually a wig? :ac1:
-
I must have had a Dave Hill wig-do in the '70s then!
Glam-rock was fun. ;D
