Just under 4 inches with a matt base,mother-in-law has had it for years :huh:please,
-
It does look like something Wedgwood would make, doesn't it? Maybe it just ran off before they could get its base polished. :wsh:
Added on -- I checked some Wedgwood elephants online. They had a similar but different design. So I would guess probably not Wedgwood.

the shape is similar to wedgwood, if it is, maybe this is a second with the base not been polished

It doesn't look like a Wedgwood colour and the shape looks wrong. Langham Glass?

Thanks ladies(and gent?) ;D

I really don't think so, but there may be a Harris/Mdina connection, there's a possibility it could be Malta Decorative Glass - research is currently ongoing about this very short lived company and the involvement of Vicente Boffo there.
Does anybody recognise the actual style of the elephant? It looks a bit different to most elephants you see, trunk down, and no ears........

Hi Keith, Happy Birthday!!
I am pretty certain this is Wedgwood. They produced trunk up and trunk down ellies, and there was a period when they had some pretty speckled glass combinations.
I have a couple that didn't have polished bases......I can't be certain if this signified that they were seconds, but the shape certainly looks very Wedgwood to me., and I have several of them. There is a 'dimple' on the top of the head which often indicates that it is Wedgwood.
The only other people that I know who did mottled ellies in this style was Avondale Glass in Pembrokeshire, but as far as I know, they only made trunk up ellies.
