I set myself the challenge this morning of posting my first picture on the board as I keep reading how easy it is. I am not very computer literate as my 11 year old daughter likes to remind me.
Here goes, hopefully you will be able to look at my few pieces of Monart Wedding gift.

Fingers crossed that it works

The decanter in the photo is very special to me as it was a special birthday present to cheer me up after my mum died. It should have a flared top but has been ground down because of damage. The other pieces I just had to have, I love that sparkle! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to afford the few pieces I have seen on eBay recently but one day the collection will grow.
Thanks again for the feedback, time for a snooze now I think.
Regards
Lynne

What a lovely collection in the Royal Wedding colours. I have recently purchased a dish similar to your front piece in the Wedding colours and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. It is my Christmas present to myself as I always wanted a piece in this colour for my collection.
Here are a few of my pieces which I absolutely adore - Monart/Vasart and Strathearn.

Hi Lynne,
You have done well on putting together a collection of those! They look great grouped together... a few more shapes to go:

At least one of those large bowls has been smashed at Balmoral but most of the rest are supposed to still be there.
Thanks for sharing your too Zidori, I particularly love the Vasart vase. One of the best shapes they made.

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments, I think that I was a magpie in a previous life as I am always drawn to sparkly things. Diamonds preferably, otherwise Monart with aventurine or with christmas flakes which I am presuming are mica.
I spoke to Adam Aaronson at a glass fair earlier this year about my (feeble) attempts at fusing glass. One of the things I want to try is to incorporate mica into a piece but I haven't been able to get any. Adam told me that I could use vermiculite (spelling?) which is available from garden centres. I have just acquired two big bags from a shop that sells gas fires and I hope to get time over Christmas to experiment.
Zidori, thanks for letting us see your photos and I hope you love your wedding gift piece when it arrives.
Frank, I don't know if you remember but I purchased the bowl at the back of the photo from you a few years ago, it is definitely a piece that will remain in my collection.

Hi Kev
Thanks for letting me see your piece of Wedding Gift
I hope you didn't cause its demise, what did it start life as? I wonder if there was ever a Wedding Gift paperweight ? maybe not. :)
-
Kevin,
You should have a little card displayed next to your piece.
A special set of Monart glass was made for the Royal Wedding gift from the city of Perth, most of the set remains intact but a large bowl did get broken...
:D Leave the rest to imagination and one day your heirs will have a piece of history and wonder "How DID he get that piece?"
-
Ah, well, being (mostly) an honest type, I will say here that I was sent the piece by a collector, so I could see the interior structure and do a decent UV test, as complete examples of Monart are quite difficult to get a UV
reaction from.
I also used the piece as a template to draw circumference. It produced a perfect circle with a diameter of 29.5 cm / 11 5/8 inches.
It was the collector who unfortunately dropped the large bowl / dish :!:
But yes, Frank, with my warped sense of humour, I am tempted by the hint-at-Balmoral card

Lynne, Kev and Ronnie's pics have all been munched by Tinypic. Could you add copies back onto the board if you still have them please?
