These are from the island of Murano, Italy.
I can't give a positive id on maker, some canes look like canes used by Galliano Ferro but that's not really saying much
since Murano canes were often sold to other makers.

In the first picture I thought it was glass globbed onto a rectangular grayish plate. Now I see the grayish is actually clear amethyst like glass as well. Thanks. They are very interesting. Good luck with your search.

Hi , here is a weight that might be worth looking at for possible cane similarities. Lovely door knobs ! Cheers, Mike.

Ok...some posts removed so that this thread makes sense now (well, hopefully!). Someone suggested moving this to Murano and that can be done in a couple of days to give Paperweight folk a good chance to see them first. :) :)

This might be a while until some of the Murano collectors check in.
If we could possibly have clearer pictures of the canes that would help, it looks like there are silvery flakes in the glass,
this could help close in on a maker.
Definitely Murano make tho and we may not come closer than that unless someone recognizes the door handles.
My guess would be late 20th Century.
Murano canes are hard to nail down as they are often made by one maker for sale to other glassmakers.

Yes there are silver flecks on a red base.
I am working on a better pic, just not very good at them

Hi, Does your camera have a close-up setting ? Mine has a pic of a flower for close-ups and a tree for long distance . I first started taking shots on the tree setting and ended up with pics like yours initially ....until I read the instruction manual !
My initial thoughts were 1960's/70's because of the shape. The bracket however looks later maybe. But I'm clueless really !
Do you know if the door knobs came from a cupboard ? Cheers, Mike.

Try this one, let me if I need to go back to school :ooh:

Much better picture :)
The red & white cog canes look like Galliano Ferro canes but their output, at least for paperweights, was often more controlled and neat.
You could try googling Galliano Ferro and possibly Ferro Lazarini.

I've been seaching for the canes on various Murano paperweights ...cant find one to match....but here is an AVEM door stop from the 1950/60's with a silver-leafed blue ground , similar to yours . Fairly messy & scrambled too...cant see a cane to match though.

This galliano Ferro paperweight contains the same red/white canes as in these doorhandles.
eBay 280538385877 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rare-Gallion-Ferro-Pedestal-Paperweight-8-tall-/280538385877?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4151640dd5) - th e price is not realistic tho.

Here is another Galliano Ferro paperweight with label . :)
