Hi Jean,
I have a couple of Isle of Wight Studio Glass pieces with a coachbolt pontil. These were made for a short period in 1973 only. I'll see what I can do about pictures in the next few days.

Hi John
Thank you..it is probably just my eyesight, but i can not for the life of me make out the coachbolt one..i managed to find a photo on the web..i could not make that out iether..i think im getting old ! :'(

There is not a lot to make out, it's just a concave blob of glass that was shaped with a rounded bit of metal while it was still hot. ;)

It was made, quite literally, with a coachbolt. There happened, at the time, to be one handy. The round top of the bolt was pressed into the blob of glass put over the pontil scar. It leaves a round outside ridge with a round crater inside. The coachbolt pontil mark.
(the pontil is the metal rod the glass is held on while being worked, when it is broken off, it leaves a MARK. The pontil mark or pontil scar.)
(nag, nag, nag!) :wsh:
