Title: Well Made Paperweight ID help - Contolled Bubble / Clear 5"
Post by: EmeraldEstates on July 22, 2010, 03:21:07 AM
Hello all -- I need a bit of help identifying this paperweight.  It is a 5" diameter clear glass paperweight, which generally dosn't do much for me, but this one seems to have a bit more quality than your run of the mill piece.  The foot is extremely well ground, which says quality to me.  The only problem is I can't figure out the signature.  -- Part of the signature looks to be ??mueler.  Thanks for looking  :hi:

I think the second word is "France" and that's where I would be looking for makers.

Hi there - Not sure, but nice clear, and simple.
Reminds me of the one (PW) that was made in * BRAZIL * ..... (as a Guess) ......but that is just a guess...

For extra info ...

The signature on the weight matches that shown on another example posted in a very long discussion back in 2006. These "globes" with controlled bubbles were made at the Cristallerie Schneider and probably in the 1960s period. A major difference in the work of the pre- and post-war French Schneider companies is that at Cristallerie Schneider, they used lead crystal - and no paperweights (or "globes") were made at the pre-war company.
