To anyone out there bidding on item 360283903142 the art deco figural clock, please be aware that the item is damaged which the seller has not detailed within their listing. I enquired and also mentioned that they should in fact detail the damage, but as yet, they havent, so be warned if you have your eye on this item

Thanks, I am always suspicious when no mention of condition is made.
Shame because it is a really lovely piece.
-
I sent the seller a request for more pictures. It will be interesting to see what he says.

Thanks for the "heads up" it was on my want list......

Took me longer than it should have to figure out what 'fiuries' were too. Can you tell us what the damage is?
-
Seller said to me "two small chips to underside of base"..............I sent an appropriate reply back just now!

As you might all know it's a Walther RELIEF clock - still in better condition than mine  :pb:
-
Yes damage should be disclosed but it is rare such things are undamaged - too much handling for winding plus dusting.
-
yup it is and there is one at my local auction tonight in pink with absolutely no damage. I am going down tonight to get it
-
actually as I don't actually know what the value would be, what would be a reasonable amount in £ to go up to without outbidding it's value?
-
Put it like this the one, on ebay is at £80 with a day to go...
-
yes I know but the bidders don't know it's damaged which devalues it. They think they are bidding on an item which has no damage. I have again mailed the seller telling him to discolose the damage in his listing or he will end up refunding whoever wins
-
But the one you've got your eye on is undamaged...
You don't know they don't know about the damage and even damaged clocks do well.
-
yup hehehhee
-
They go for a fair bit. On aussie ebay about $200-$400 plus...I have been on the look out for years for a good clock! Still nothing. Me looking for a bargain I wont get... ::)
-
I also asked if there was any damage and was told the same as Emmi, so I asked how large the chips were and were then any pictures to show them, reply was "to small to swow in a phote" ::)
-
Sorry but :24:

am afraid this seller is gonna run into trouble with this item. Unfortunately he has made the listing private so you can't mail the other bidders to warn them. there were already several bids before I found this item. Unfortunately there are many gullible people out there that don't check for damage before they bid, just cus it doesn't list it means nothing these days. The seller isn't even displaying the questions and answers for other bidders to see. How they have 100% feedback is beyond me as there is insufficent details in all their listings
I have been selling on ebay for 10 years and let me tell you I have seen and heard everything. have warned this seller again that whoever wins will no doubt want a refund as I no we collectors are normally quite fussy on condition.
-
gonna go onto live help on ebay and see what they say as they have changed the "condition"section lately
-
oh great 22 in the queue and 20 min wait.... typical..... and I bet I don't get anywhere ::)

I don't know why I bothered. I expected a stupid person on the other end and I got him. Apparently I can report him for lack of description and condition but the idiot can't find the right link for me to report him. I see it has just gone up to £101. Whoever gets it is gonna be very disappointed. Oh well at least I tried

Hi
I bought a green relief clock a few months ago on ebay and luckily they did mention there was a slight line in the glass but not a crack and it was as they said thank goodness.I got it for £59 had to put a clock face in so pinched one from my Waltraut clock! lol
I remember last year someone was selling a frosted Bagley green Marine bowl and it has been etched Lalique and it sold for quite a hefty sum,my friend continously emailed the seller to tell them that it wasn't Lalique and that it was Bagley and gave them details of Bagley info but they never altered the listing very crooked I thought!
-
If it really is damaged, then the seller perhaps seems evasive. I asked if it was 'perfect' he replied that it was in 'good condition'.
-
I've asked for pictures and he is going to send them to my email. I will give you a full report.

And now up to £230!!!
If his "after sales" service is as good as his current service, then I don't expect the buyer will get much cooperation in terms of voluntary refund etc...........
-
I think this is getting/has got a little out of hand. The seller has 100% feedback. He hasn't lied. He has made no claims of condition in his listing. He has said to enquiries that it has two small chips and that it is not perfect. The bidders are prepared to spend money on something that is obviously pretty uncommon and almost 80 years old. You have to be very lucky to find these sort of items in perfect condition - they were meant to be used not wrapped in cotton wool.

Tend to agree...

:rah: :rah: :rah: yipeeeeeeeeeee I got my clock last night at the auction for £30 :rah: :rah: :rah: :rah: :rah:
