Evening All,
I'm hoping someone will recognise this bowl :X:
A couple of years ago these pressed glass bowls seemed to be in every charity shop in NZ.
I purchased this blue one and have used it regularly ever since but I have yet to identify it.
It is 8 inches in diameter and stands 3 1/2 inches high on its 5 feet.
I have also seen examples in pink and some with mermaids swimming amongst the weeds.
THanks for your help,
Meegs

Hi Meegs, I have two small clear ones which I asked about a while back here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,9211.0.html but other than knowing they are German (mine are marked as such) the jury's still out as to who made them - there are some suggestions in the earlier topic which we might be able to follow up.
I'd love to see Ivo's carnival glass version!

Me too!
I have recently purchased one with mermaids, also in the blue, when it arrives I'll check and see if it has any numbers/ country of origin on it as this one is unmarked. There were certainly abundant here at one stage as also seen ones that appeared to be coated and have a painted finished, these finishes were usually damaged and I never bothered to purchase any. Which was silly considering how much use it gets it wouldn't matter if I had worn the coating completely off still would have worked well! I also thought probably 50's/60's and now I've also learnt they come in at least two sizes.
Cheers

Here are a couple of pictures of my mermaid example which has just arrived.
It clearly states made in Germany on one of the tab handles.
This example is clear with a blue coating rather than blue glass.
Cheers
