Hellew all, I've attached pixs of two vases I own. I was told when I purchased them years ago that they were brought from a glasswork in the Isle of Wight. Taller vase has flame sticker (had square Isle of Wight sticker, washed off) and shorter fat vase has flame impressed on base. Any help would be appreciated. :kissy:

Isle of Wight. The flame is the clue

Okay, did mdina also produce these vases? Just researched online, so my knowledge is vague. Any idea when these particular pieces may have been produced? Thanks.

They are both Isle of Wight Studio Glass.
The lollipop shape was first produced by Michael Harris, at Mdina, but the internal decoration was quite different. Attenuated bottles were also produced at Mdina, but again, with quite different decoration, and made using much, much thicker glass.
The "Aurene" attenuated bottle is a very desirable piece indeed, Aurene was produced between '74 and c. '82. It can have the flame logo or a snapped off pontil mark (the snapped off mark is mostly found on these bottles).
I think the lollipop is a more common piece, but the flame logo on the pontil mark puts it between ~ '73 and '79.

Wow, interesting. Great site. Thank-you for that information. The taller vase has a rough pontil mark, the smaller the impressed flame. I will investigate further on the net :hiclp:

isle of Wight Studio Glass has it's own website here - it also has a forum.
Search around it a bit, you'll find out a lot!
There is an image of an attenuated Aurene bottle in the "Sold Archive" section.

If you're interested in this particular area of glass, (which all the very best folk are ;D ;D ;D ) I thoroughly recommend the wonderful book Mark Hill has written and published;
"Michael Harris: Mdina Glass & Isle of Wight Studio Glass".
