I've had these a while but not got around to posting them... and as someone suggested having a mystery object to test your grey cells against, how about these for starters?
They are quite small - only a couple of inches tall, but the metal part is around 4-5 inches. Inside them you might be able to see a tube going down from the lid, and each of them came with a spare tube - you can see them laid across the bottom inside each glass part.
Any suggestions as to
1. what they were used for
2. maker
3. age
:rn:
(I should say they are marked on a part you can't see on the photos so I do know what they are. I'll reveal all in a couple of days if no-one gets it right.)

Hi Anne - I think I suggested the Mystery object in a post...
So I will take a crack at it...
A). For either your Nose or your Throat (like a spray...?atomizer??)
B). I will say DeVilBliss
C). Age -- maybe the 1940's
??????

AT first glance I also thought atomizers then I thought salt and pepper. Also because of a severe lack of sleep due to OH not arriving home till 4am I also thought colourful daleks hahaha :ooh:

Good morning :hi:
I might recall we used these at school (art excersizes) as atomizers of 'Fixativ' on charcoal paintings :pb: :ooh:
-
I think I went to school around the same time as Pamela. We had a much simpeler version of these - for applying a fixative to charcoal drawings. The fixative goes into the pot, and blowing through the tube will aerosol the contents over the paper.

Looks like what we call "airbrush" but used with "mouth power" in years past.

Thanks to all who took a punt at this, and in fact it was Rose who guessed correctly! :hiclp: Well done Rose!!! :rah: :rah: :rah:
I've added shots of the tops of each showing the wording - they are DeVilbiss throat sprayers but missing their rubber tubes and balloons. The DeVilbiss website has a history of their development, and it's thanks to these that perfume atomisers came about too:

Now do not think I have *googling skills* or *smart* on this one, because that is not so.
The fact the ions ago (2008), I had posted a Devilbliss atomizer here -- so *just* going by that -- I took a guess. As mine is still really different that this one. * see My Post Here * (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,18866.0.html). So I was still just taking a guess solely due to what I had....and hoping :X: it might be close. I think I am spending Way to much time on the Net.....
The date was also a guess.....was that close at all??
What did I win? :24: :24:
