Title: Flattened, heavy bubble glass decanter with target/lollipop stopper - Antique???
Post by: peejyweejy on August 09, 2010, 12:00:01 PM
Can anyone ID this decanter - age - country of origin etc?

It appears to be old but I have never seen anything like it. Almost 12" in height, including stopper - pontil is very rough. It has lots of bubbles and is a sea green in colour.

I think this is Scandinavian.
Ivo kindly identified a bowl and other items last year on GMB for this pattern (and coincidentally solved a mystery piece I have). A search on here of ship etched etc may yield the factory name. Scandinavian though I am fairly sure, 1960's-1970's.

Wondering about this, I found the post! Topic: Primitive looking cordial - ship engraving.

Ivo kindly identified a piece with this design as Reijmyre, Sweden. There is a nice large range of these to collect. My piece is a small finger type bowl in similar bubbled green glass which was understood as "faux primitive," for effect. One of the first pieces of glass I ever bought. Also the post goes on to suggest they are perhaps not Reijmyre but possibly from the mediterranean, maker unknown. I like them anyway!

Hi again Robert - Yes I did read that post - maybe Ivo will clarify, I understand some pieces have been found with the Reijmyre sticker  :-\
