Title: Bellova shades and fixtures
Post by: vintagelighting on December 10, 2005, 05:37:56 PM
Hello
Does anyone with knowledge concerning Bellova lighting glass wish to share? I do know about this site http://www.emeralite.com/ but I am looking for more information. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Lisa

Hi Lisa  -remember me? What is it precisely you wish to find out about Bellova? It has been - as far as I've been able to find out - a brand name from McFaddin which they had produced by S&N in Moravia same as their Emeralite brand, or in the S&N plant at Zayn-Ugroc on the Hungarian border which did enamel decoration. There is or was (despite rumours to the contrary) no Bellova works, it was merely a brand name used in the US. Bellova products have never been sold on this side of the pond and are therefore unknown.
Maybe Marcus has some additional information on the fate of S&N after the war - but they were subcontractor, and it is very doubtful if you'll find out anything more than that.

Hello Ivo,
Yes, of course, I remember you.  You suggested this group to me. I did loose a couple of years but not my memories.
Thank you for your input on the Bellova shades. I have two in stock at the moment and I am trying to find similar pieces offered for sale or sold.
Here is a link to one of them. http://vintagelighting.com/Bellova%20fixture%20with%20silver%20plated%20holder.jpg  It has a diameter of 14 inches. The holder is not silver plate it is nickel plated over brass. If I should have posted this on a different board please let me know.
Sincerely,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
This site has a couple of Bellova items for sale.
http://www.oldlamp.com/Jewels12.htm
This site has one.
http://www.p4a.com/itemsummary/227154.htm
This site has a few, but they spell 'Bellova' as 'Belova' (not sure if that is the same?)
http://www.antiquelight.com/ChandelierPageE.html

Not sure if this is what you were after.

Dear Della,
Thank you! I really appreciate your time. I found those too but I have been unable to find a piece the same size as mine. I think Belova is just a typo or spelling mistake on the Allen's site. I did check with the chap that published the Emeralite and Bellova site but he offered less than I paid. :(
I'll keep searching. If anyone does find a similar piece offered for sale please let me know.
Sincerely,
Lisa
