Title: Red bowl
Post by: culverwood on August 11, 2010, 01:52:35 PM
Is it Italian?  Sorry for the particularly bad photo and uncleaned bowl.

A strange angle but it looks like a Whitefriars ruby cased if that is a lobed bottom i can see  :-[ :-[ :-[ jp

it is heavy and the base has 5 "lobes" if that is the right word.

Whitefriars Pattern 9625,  if it is 5 inches diameter here's a blue one

If it is 8 inches diameter it may be pattern 9408 which is a VERY similar bowl

Base and side view would help to give a positive id

And against a plain white background. That red looks a bit wishy washy for Whitefriars.

It's about 8 inches across, depending in where you measure it, so I think it is the 9408 though not in tip top condition.  It is reddder than it appears on my screen.

As it also looks very like Anne's Thai bowl

Not from above or the side.  Having seen the 9408 and the Thai pictures I am in no doubt.

Taiwan not Thailand! :) Mine's not as big, only 5" across, but otherwise looks similar. Colour of mine is very red, with a clear case over.

Correction: mine's 6" across not 5", I've just re-measured it!

Cor, strike a light !!!  That's VERY similar.........scarey! Mmmm. Now I am not so sure of my attribution.......perhaps it's one that should be "handled" ? I've never seen one of these which was NOT Whitefriars, if you know what I mean.......what's your bottom like Anne :24:??
