Title: Identifying white vase with red spot - ID = Jiri Suhajek for Crystalex
Post by: tengel61 on August 18, 2010, 01:25:09 AM
I need some help identifying this vase. I bought it from an elderly lady's estate auction. It just kept saying "buy me...buy me" ;). Does anyone know anything about this?????

Hi:

Could be an interesting piece (or not),  so it would be worth taking a picture of the base as well as taking a photograph of the piece in natural light rather than with flash, which makes it difficult to see the details of the vase.

OK I don't know to make a link so you can view the other pictures so I will add them one at a time....sorry

The vase measures approximately 7" high by 4.5" in diameter.

You can add up to four images to every post. Just hit the link "(more attachments)", which is just to the left of the Attach box, to bring up more boxes.

Thanks for the much improved pictures. I now know what it reminded me of, Galaxy Red by Bertil Vallien for Kosta Boda. However, it's not quite the same and it's not signed. It looks like a well made piece and I still think I've seen it before, but I can't place it right now. I'd say Scandinavian, though.  I'll check a few books later on.

Thanks David, this woman had a lot of beautiful glass like Waterford, Fenton, Tiffany and another kind which I can't remember the name of and which those pieces were value up to a couple thousand dollars . This was the only piece the family didn't know what it was.
Thanks again, Tricia

This piece is Czechoslovakian, designed by Jiri Suhajek for Crystalex in 80ties.

Scandinavian, Czech, what's the difference? Oh well, at least I thought it was good piece. You lucky person, Tricia. You got the pick of the litter.

Jindrich,
Thank you for the information. My friends and I looked forever trying to get information on this one and then I remember this message board.

Thank you David for your help too! I really appreciate it from the both of you.
