A new riddle !
Very interesting decanter which is up for auction in germany - the engraving is quite nice - i can see also that it is signed P. ST. or R. ST. - but is it english - was this amber glass handle and foot used in this time in england ? questions questions question .. :-)
thx for your help !!

Hi Thomas
A very difficult challange.
I can't find anything English that is similar, the decoration looks continental to me but I'm really not sure.
What do you think?

hi Hazel !
i don`t like the amber applications - the stand reminds me of an german " roemer " wine glass and amber is a little strange and the engraving is like a " Watteau Scene " - french , german - probably the region of Alsace .. - really hard !
anyway i will try to get it for less than 70 - 80 pounds .. its nice craftmanship :-)
we have so much rain here - " cats and dogs " as you would say :-)

Spot on, very like the scenes on Dresden porcelain.
Lots of sunshine today - lovely :sun:

Beautiful engraving but nothing looks British , especially the foot .

I love the engraving, but agree with you about the amber, and also agree with everyone's comments about the lack of 'Englishness' about it! :)
Please let us know if you get it for your target price!
