Title: Mdina blue and gold owl
Post by: chriscooper on September 04, 2010, 11:42:30 AM
Stands 3.5" high, turquoise, blue and gold. Label on base reads "Hand made in Malta M55".
Is it Mdina? Thanks

This is Mdina.
I don't think this particular surface-finish was used for too long - it's well post-Harris period, but one of the designs I personally find very attractive indeed. It only ever seems to be on very small  items;-  owls, mushrooms, tiny flattened round bottles and small, straight-sided perfume bottles.
I have 2 bits with Mdina script on them, it's a late-ish script. I have no idea what period they were produced, but they're not that common. (They're not rare or scarce, just less frequent.).

My owl has a paper Mdina label on it, my other two bits have the script. I really like this unusual surface decoration, so it's not really too hard to work out and spurt a bit about it!

It was just to reassure you it was Mdina, seeing a signed one Chris....you don't need to buy it.   :24:
But if you want to sell yours it'e probably worth watcing this one to see if it sells at that price!!

Phew!!!  got it now Rosie, getting a bit slow on the uptake in me old age, it's an old thread from last year sold for a few ££s each sadly just been adding a picture to some of my posts after a couple of 'old dears' complained about having to open the links  :wsh:
