Hi all
So hopefully I'm sorting out this picture lark. So how about this plate? £6 from ebay. 9.5" across, def. a plate, but is quite a deep plate. It is plain cut glass rather than crystal by the sound of it. The marks are but into the back of the plate.
Maybe you have some ideas of ID and age please?

It looks pressed rather than cut - can you do a close up of the pattern please?

Hi Anne
I'll see what I can do, I fancy that the outside is pressed/moulded glass, but the centre feels sharp enough to be cut - I will set up the camera stand later and see what I can get.

Looks pressed to me too. Try smoothing your background out...

I must admit the more I look at it the more I think it could be pressed too. However, if it is then I guess there is more chance of identifying it as more would have been made - I still think it looks a few years old.

If it feels sharp then it's probably an early one from that mould. The more worn the moulds became the softer the pattern can become. I still don't recognise the pattern though... I take it you've searched for a registered design number or a maker's mark all over?

Hi Anne
I hadn't in as many words, though nothing had jumped out when I'd looked for it before, but I have now - I can't see anything beyond the pattern itself.
Sorry
