I'm trying to collect Murano paperweights but could well buy Chinese instead . I'm not sure in which category this weight lives ! The base is clear but full of tiny bubbles. There are bubbles between and around every cane. The base is polished but there is little ware and is quite sharp around the edge....could possibly have been re-polished.The glass above the canes is fairly free from bubbles. Lowish-domed . Height 4.5cm diameter 6cm.
The canes in the second circle in form the cicumference have spokes , each spoke is made up of two fine slithers of green glass with clear glass between the slithers and spokes. If that makes any sence . Thanks for looking !

I think you have a Murano weight from the mid 20th Century; I have seen fairly similar canes in Murano weights to those that you describe.

I'm very happy ! It's a small start in the right direction for me. Just getting my eye in at the moment with tenative purchases on ebay ! Much appreciated, Mike.

If the canes are set more or less midway in a clear dome and the side view shows obviously irregular lengths of cane then it is quite likely that it is a Murano weight. But not all Murano weights have that feature.

It's another useful recognition tip . I haven't seen quite so many trapped bubbles within a clear ground or surrounding the canes before...bit of a bad mix of glass perhaps ! Still, it's an interesting set of canes . You can see the structure of the spokes from the profile shot ...looking face down on the weight the spokes look more solid in appearance.
