Hi Mac, I am not sure, but it does not strike me as Kralik. It does carry a very faint similarity to this orange decor, which is a Welz piece in my collection.... The second image is an example of a Welz decor in the Passau. These decor characteristics are not ones I associate with any Kralik examples we have images of for the website...... The very tight zigzag pattern in the lines.....
I am not sure yours is Welz...... My work identifying their decors is in early stages though, but I would not rule it out.
One of the things to consider though is the number of companies that would have imported to North America.... and current research indicates that post WWI in particular, both Kralik and Welz were imported in large quantities by Butler Bros.... My current belief is that Welz's post WWI production was much larger than previously thought.... their palette of colors and artistic flair are unique and different from Kralik in many ways... At a glance your piece falls into color and decor categories I would associate with their production.
We will certainly see examples which came over from Europe with individuals that are other companies.... but there is a lot of Kralik and Welz in the US, and I am going to assume, also in Canada.....
Nice find... I really like the piece.... it is quite unique.....
