Title: Blue cloud / streaky vase origin?
Post by: uphoosier on September 07, 2010, 03:22:13 AM
I believe this 25cm tall vase is properly described as cloud glass...?  I know it is at least from the 1970s, as I remember it being around that long.  My mother came to the States from Germany in 1950, but I am not sure if she brought this with her or acquired it later.  Can anyone suggest a maker or time frame?  Thanks for looking.

I think cloud glass is a term reserved for pressed glass; the clouds are formed in the batch of glass, i.e., in the pot. This is blown and it is more likely that the trails are applied by the blower to each item individually.

Thanks, Christine.  I didn't know that.
