Hi All,
Hoping someone could help throw some light on this one.
Similar to Sarpaneva pieces I own, although this piece does have clear differences. Apart from the shape being different the base is also very different as its not inverted like other Sarpanevea pieces I have. (However the base does show a fair amount of wear.)
I know other Scandinavian designers have produced similar designs notably Kaj Franck and Tapio Wirkkala, although I am not as familiar with their output. Perhaps its origins lie somewhere else altogether..
Measures 8 inches tall.
All thoughts welcome.
Thanks,
Greg

wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this one...? :-\

Just saw this Kaj Franck decanter set on designlasi, although mine, does appear to taper inwards slightly towards the base. Any thoughts............

It's not an uncommon form (often referred to as a Martini pitcher/jug) and was made by lots of companies... Colour looks Italian.

thanks Christine

My first thought was Italian, Venini used that shape but they would be very thin light glass ,yours looks quite robust . jp

Thanks JP.
Been flicking through one of Andy McConnell's books, as Christine mentioned, this post war design/form appears to have been produced my numerous companies. From reading it could quite easily have come from Italy or one of the dozens of small French or Belgian glassworks that closed down between the 1950s and 70s.
In essence, its looks like its going to be virtually impossible to pinpoint exactly, however, pleased to have learnt something along the way!
Thanks,
Greg
