Title: Knobbly vase
Post by: Andy B on September 09, 2010, 02:37:53 PM
Hi Folks,

Am "new to glass" but it's quite addictive ain't it  :)!!! I've no idea what make the vase is but am sure some of you on this board will - confidence  :hiclp:  - but it measures 10" (25.5 cm) high and was given as a present in 1969 according to inscription on the base. I'd be grateful of any help.

Many thanks,

Andy

Hi Andy,

Could you add a picture of the base please...?

No makers name just personal inscription: "To Anna avd (or "and") Bob and Brian on occurance of their matrimony 6/9/1969 From Lyn".
Interesting matrimony - 3 of them!!!

Vase does have some bubbles in it - perhaps photo doesn't show that too well. It is rather heavy (2040 grammes) as well.

Thanks,

Andy

Very traditional to give glass at a wedding...I don't think it is Orrefors though...LOL...

I've never seen this shape vase before.  I wonder if someone was experimenting with moulds and made this?

Glass is a little "crude" - at least to my eyes. So maybe you are correct Max.  Hopefully not and it's rare and worth so much that I can sell it and retire ;D  :hiclp:. But somehow I doubt it.....

Thanks all for the help - any more theories will be welcome!!!

Whatever it is, it was Anna, Bob and Brian's anniversary a few days ago.  :chky:
