Title: Scottish Paperwieght - Not so sure...???
Post by: Glassheart on September 09, 2010, 05:17:51 PM
Hey All,
Recently got this off ebay, my first impressions were scottish, but after receiving it - I'm not so sure.  The issue is the base which is smooth frosted, which I tend to associate with Chinese weights.  Is this uncommon in scottish weights?  The ones i've seen, tend to have a rough/snapped/textured pontils - Perthsire, JD and Strathearn.  Also the design also has only 2 latticino spokes(where there is obviously space for 9!) and if you look carefully you can see the remnants/crumbs of another one - looks like they've been pinched!
Any ideas?  Many thanks!

Strathearn, although the 'frosted' base is slightly unusual....

Thanks,  My judgement says scottish all over.  Just curious about the frosted base and 2 spoked latticino swirls
