Title: id for small funnel shaped drinking glass.
Post by: Paul S. on September 17, 2010, 08:30:56 PM
Just one more for this evening. :)   Nothing spectacular, but seems to have an unusually large funnel bowl compared to length of stem.    Plain moulded underside of foot (without any pontil mark)  -  it rings like you wouldn't imagine - and no wear to speak of.     4.25 inches/108mm tall.    Did this shape of glass have a particular use, and does it ring because it has a lead content - or simply because the shape is making it behave like a bell when struck? -   and do people think this shape might come from a particular period i.e. mid/late C19 - Edwardian etc. etc.    thanks for looking  -  and by the way the colour is simply 'clear glass'. ;)
