Another from the carboot Saturday, It's a real shame about the water damage though.
Anyone recognise it? I thought it was like some of the Swedish glass I have seen. It's heavy, bevelled on the inside and outside of the rim but in a slightly uneven way. The base shows no pontil mark - to me - but is indented with the inner part not being smooth to the touch - I presume this is mould blown? There is also a significant amount of wear to the base.
Height = 130mm
Width = 99 x 67mm

Very nice could be Stromberg .

That's the company I was thinking of. Mine has no signature or markings of any sort but all the examples I have seen from Stromberg appear to be signed.

There's a lot of Scandinavian glass like this out there which isn't signed unfortunately. To be honest, I don't pick up this kind of thing any more (without a signature) unless the engraving is absolutely top class, or I can identify the engraving, and there's no damage. :-\

Well, that's ok if you're going to use it for flowers, but no I wouldn't buy it for 75p. Why? Becaaauuuse....I have a shed full of that kind of thing and after a while, you simply don't buy it even if it's ridiculously cheap. :'(
(that's just me though, I'm sure other people would disagree! In fact, it might be worth a debate in the Cafe)

Well Max that is understandable. Personally I'm just starting my collection so all these bits add to my education :X:

That's how I accrued my shed of glass...I think most people here have a learning curve of glass tucked away somewhere. :thup: I didn't mean to demean your glass earlier, it's just that my personal priorities have changed, especially since I'm skint most of the time now. All those 75p's add up and you have to find space for them. I only really buy glass now that I either LOVE or can make some money on. :P :)

Sounds like wise advise and no offence taken on the demeaning of my vase :cry:
